Bill (Pluckyfingers) has ordered a Hickory openback with a whyte ladie tonering. He is supplying his own neck. This combo seems to create great lows with the right bridge when played in the clawhammer style. With our first demo model we find there is no need for socks in the back. We will get started on this one Bill as soon as the wood arrives.

Hickory wood as in good quality hammer handles? Is this new? Pardon my ignorance but I haven't come across this before. What are the advantages?

Hickory is not new to banjos. As you will know all woods have their own sounds. We find hickory has good bass response when playing clawhammer. The 4th string seems to be more powerful. I will let Bill tell you what it really does once I get it finished for him.
